“Meeting Dr Andy Green was an important step for me. A career in top football had left injuries in my back and neck! After a couple of treatments i already felt a lot better than before. My body is already lot more in balance. Thanks!”
Jaap Stam, Manager Reading FC
At Reflex Spinal Health we love helping to resolve sports injury caused by a range of conditions that chiropractic & osteopathy has been shown to improve. However, it is important to not that the term “sports injury” is a broad and generic term, and that there are some causes of sports injury that may not fall within our spectrum of care. However, please consult us about this. We can make a full assessment and diagnosis of your presentation. If it is a condition that is best treated elsewhere we can refer you on quickly and efficiently.
Athletes of all types, from weekend warrior to world-class athlete and Premiership footballers, utilise Sports Chiropractic & Osteopathy to improve their performance and speed their recovery from sports injuries. Many well known sports stars including Tiger Woods, Venus Williams, Evander Holyfield have been quoted publicly as saying chiropractic has been crucial to them, and their performance.
Both the Chiropractors and Osteopaths at Reflex work on sporting injuries. Lead Chiropractor, Andy Green, has a particular interest in sports work. Having completed the post-graduate International Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (ICCSP) course he has been selected to work as a member of the London 2012 Olympics medical team as a chiropractor, has treated multiple junior and senior international rowers, and is working with both Crystal Palace Football Club and Reading Football Club.

Andy Green says: “Having worked at both the Olympics and in professional football I have loved to see the way that Chiropractic can play a special role in the care of the elite athlete when part of a multi-disciplinary team. Interestingly, while working at the London Olympics, the majority of athletes were presenting to the chiropractors and osteopaths without pain, but feeling restriction, or functional weakness. It was our job to get them feeling great in time for their big day!”
Both Chiropractic and Osteopathy are primarily concerned with the relationship between the structure (the spine) and function (coordinated by the nervous system) of the human body and how it affects our overall health.
At Reflex Spinal Health we offer a natural form of health care which uses spinal adjustments to correct muscular dysfunctions and restrictions in the spine and extremities while restoring proper function to the nervous system. This allows your body to heal naturally.

Our approach aims to improve your functional biomechanics and neuromuscular control. We aim to: manage injury, prevent injury and improve performance. Chiropractors and Osteopaths are particularly interested in the biomechanics of the spine, especially the joints which encircle the spinal cord and are intimately linked to the spinal nerve roots that can irritate the nervous system. Ultimately this can result in muscle inhibition and a decrease in neuromuscular control, and with it performance.
1: Improve Proprioception
It has been demonstrated that chiropractic can improve an individuals proprioception. Proprioception is the body’s ability to perceive the position the body is in and give the brain correct positional awareness. We can assess your shoulder, elbows, Hips, knees and feet, and NOT just your Back! We commonly assess conditions such as Running injuries, Tennis Elbow, and muscular strains. Can you think of any sports where you could benefit from improved reaction times and better balance?

2: Increase Muscle Strength
An increasing number of research studies have now shown that chiropractic and osteopathic care can alter and improve muscle function in the general population.

3: Effectiveness
Recent studies show that spinal manipulative therapy carried out by a chiropractor, along with exercise, help individuals relieve neck pain and chronic back pain effectively.

4: Functional Postural Assessment
One hugely important area to assess is foot and ankle function. The most common mechanical foot issue, that can have an affect the entire body, is overpronation. This can be either a rear foot or forefoot issue. By placing a foot orthotic under someone we can effect function in the ankle, knee, hip and spine. Not only can this decrease pain but will improve biomechanics and athletic function.
5: Neurolink (Neurological Integration)
Neurolink or the Neurological Integration System (NIS) as it is also known, bases it’s treatment methods on the principle that the brain governs function of all the body’s systems through it’s neurological circuitry.
